It is reported that the tanker owner and operator of John Fredriksen has ordered two 81,500 DWT bulk carriers under the order of shanhai-customs shipbuilding industry. The two new ships will be delivered in the third and fourth quarters of 2019. The exact price of the new ship has not been announced.
It is understood that the two bulk carriers are likely to be built for the Golden Ocean Group (GOGL), a dry bulk shipping company owned by Fredriksen.
Frontline said in its annual report for 2017 that the company has more than $300 million in liquidity and will invest in the company's fleet.
Currently, the GOGL fleet owns 78 ships with a total capacity of 10.7 million DWT. In the first quarter of this year, GOGL completed its latest new shipbuilding project, receiving five new ships.
